PCOS and Weight Loss

So I found an article From LIVE STRONG about weight loss and PCOS here

 This is from the Article

" Polycystic ovary syndrome, or PCOS, causes women to have an increased level of insulin, which may lead to difficulty in losing weight. According to Women's Health, 50 to 60 percent of women with polycystic ovary syndrome are considered obese. Being overweight with PCOS can cause several medical conditions such as diabetes, high cholesterol and heart disease. Although weight loss may be difficult for women with this condition, it is not impossible.

What is PCOS?

Polycystic ovary syndrome is caused by an over-secretion of the luteinizing hormone, which in turn causes an imbalance in estrogen and progesterone. This causes abnormal menstrual cycles, hair thinning, hirsutism and a lack of ovulation. The imbalance in these sex hormones also causes the ovaries to produce multiple cysts, giving them a pearl necklace appearance.

 Benefits of Losing Weight

Losing just 5 to 10 percent of your body weight can have a significant effect on the amount of symptoms you experience with this condition, according to Women's Health. Losing weight can help regulate your menstrual cycle, restore ovulation, reduce facial and body hair, balance hormone levels and decrease the risk of heart disease. "

so Since September 27th I've lost 10.23% of my body weight. I still have a lot to lose as you can see by my ticker on the right >

I feel super proud about how far I have come! I have 2 weeks left of WLB This Saturday is my 5k! I'm thinking I need to get another 5k or 10k set up for January so that I have that extra motivation to keep focus and working out regularly. I  think having a Goal where I have get fit or stay fit helps me and I think its because I'm a little competitive :) So with a race It will help me. Plus I'm hoping I can get Lance on Board to do a 5k with me next year! :) cross your fingers he says yes!! :) He better after all he did sign up for an Ironman last year so a 5k is a piece of cake compared to that! :)

PCOS is frustrating to have and I often used it as an excuse as to why I was not losing weight but in reality looking back I never really exercised on a regulary basis. I thought I would see results after 1 or 2 work outs...yeah thats not the case!  Be consistant :) So to all of you who are trying to get on the Healthy Train or Work Out Train or what ever it is that you want to do. Start today! because a year from now you'd wish you had.
